Rapid Response grants are a key component of the institute’s mission. They provide funds for research infrastructure, travel, and activities that support the development of new areas of research. Rapid Response grants fund specific and time-sensitive opportunities to help faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students work on issues related to the institute’s mission.
Rapid Response Awards
Rapid Response grants will be funded up to $15,000. Awardees will have access to the Institute’s communication and outreach efforts to translate research findings broadly to stakeholder groups.
Eligibility and Selection Process
All full-time, PI-eligible faculty can apply. Proposals can be submitted from single or multiple investigators. Proposals will be reviewed by faculty selected from ERI’s Steering Committee with recommendations for funding made to the Institute Director approximately one week from the submission deadline.
Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Demonstrates alignment with the institute’s mission and has potential to advance resilience and/or sustainability research at UVA
- Timeliness of proposed activity and likelihood to seed larger research proposals
Successful Rapid Response grant will be expected to write a short summary on their funded activity geared towards a general audience. This will be shared on the ERI website.
Proposals should be 1-2 pages in length, and include a description of the research activities and timeline. Provide brief biographies of participating researchers. Proposals will be reviewed and funding decisions will be made within 1 week. Click here to get started.
