ERI Director Karen McGlathery will be hosting an information session on the Climate Collaborative program set to kick off this fall. The information session will be a good chance for faculty to learn about the program, proposal requirements, and deadlines. During the session we hope attendees will also provide input to ERI Leadership on where geographically we should invest, ongoing research that would be advanced by this program, and relationships within UVA that could be leveraged.

The Climate Collaborative will support large, interdisciplinary research teams in specific localities dealing with climate-related challenges. University teams will work with external partners, including policymakers, business leaders, local citizens, community groups and officials, to co-create climate adaptation and mitigation strategies that are based on cutting edge research and are actionable. The UVA Climate Collaborative will support four to six research teams working in Virginia and in other places in the nation and the world. Proposals will be funded in the range of $1 - $2 million over 3-4 years, and will include support for personnel (faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students, community liaison), engagement (travel, community meetings, communications), and research expenses.
