The Environmental Resilience Institute will host the Environmental Resilience and Sustainability (ERS) Grand Challenges Research Forum in partnership with the Offices of the Provost and the Vice President for Research on August 23rd from 1:00pm to 5:00pm in the Dome Room of the Rotunda.

Environmental Resilience and Sustainability research is one of five research pillars of the University’s 2030 Strategic Plan. The Provost and the Vice President for Research recently announced the intention to invest $20 – 50 million in Environmental Resilience and Sustainability research. The goal is for these investments to produce significant advances that will have societal impact and will move our research from prominence to preeminence. This event is the first step in a university-wide discussion to identify potential areas of focus.

This event was hosted remotely via Zoom. Recordings of the event appear below. Ideanote will remain available until September 10th. UVA faculty are invited to continue contributing, commenting, and voting on ideas throughout this period of the Grand Challenges process. Additional opportunities to contribute will be available in late fall of 2021.
